BEAUMONT – A Port Arthur woman alleges she was injured while shopping at Walmart in the city because a substance on the floor caused her to slip.

Maria Del Rocio Lopez Barajas filed a complaint on Oct. 8 in the Jefferson County District Court against Walmart Stores Texas LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 7, she was shopping at defendant's Walmart Supercenter when she slipped on something on the floor and fell onto a display box. She alleges she sustained serious and permanent injuries resulting in medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff holds Walmart Stores Texas LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain the premises and failed to correct the condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of $100,000 or less and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by A. Clement Wehner of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
