HOUSTON – A consumer alleges a debt collector failed to mark an alleged debt as disputed on her credit report.

Tamar Lee filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Security Credit Services LLC alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the defendant is attempting to collect an alleged debt owed by the plaintiff. The plaintiff alleges she disputed the alleged debt in June and that the defendant failed to flag the alleged debt on her credit report in violation of the FDCPA.

The plaintiff holds Security Credit Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to honor its statutory obligations under the FDCPA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, costs attorneys’ fees and exemplary and punitive damages for willful violation of the act. She is represented by Ken Okorie of Okorie & Associates in Houston.
