HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was injured at a Sugar Land restaurant because of an expansion joint.

Elizabeth Jaros filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the Harris County District Court against JKB Inc. and Jerry Kachel Builder Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 12, 2017, she was injured when she tripped and fell at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Sugar Land because of an improperly spaced expansion joint between the handicapped ramps where they join the sidewalk. She alleges she suffered physical pain, disability, mental anguish, loss earnings and medical expenses as a result of the fall.

The suit states JKB performed the work on the ramp

The plaintiff holds JKB Inc. and Jerry Kachel Builder Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide adequate warning or notice of the ramp's dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but less than $200,000 and all other relief both legal and equitable to which she is entitled. She is represented by Adam P. Criaco of Criaco & Associates in Houston.
