GALVESTON – An insurance company allegedly improperly denied or underpaid a consumer's claims for Hurricane Harvey damage.

Sammy Virani filed a complaint on Nov. 15 in the Galveston County District Court against QBE Specialty Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, in August 2017, the plaintiff's homes in Galveston and Kemah were damaged by Hurricane Harvey. He subsequently filed a claim on his insurance policies issued by the defendant, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds QBE Specialty Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly improperly denied and/or underpaid both claims without reasonable explanation.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000, but not more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may show himself to be justly entitled. He is represented by Maria Gerguis and Richard D. Daly of Daly & Black PC in Houston.
