HOUSTON – A convenience store sued for wrongful death after a man fatally shot himself on its premises recently filed an original answer.

Harris County District Court records show that Choice Wholesale International, Inc., doing business as Check N Go, earlier this month formally denied the allegations raised in Muhammad Kabir’s lawsuit.

As previously reported in The Southeast Texas Record, the plaintiff accuses the north Houston business of allowing his son, Ahsanul Kabir, access a loaded handgun in the secured cash register area.

The weapon accidentally discharged in the younger Kabir’s possession and caused a bullet to strike the decedent in the head, according to the elder Kabir’s complaint.

Ahsanul Kabir perished four days after the incident.

Dennis Powell of The Law Office of Dennis Powell is representing the defendant.
