HOUSTON – A Katy woman alleges in a state district lawsuit that an unsecured object struck her at the grand opening for a community pool more than a year ago.

Harris County District Court records show that Sandra Carrillo filed the suit against Planned Community Management, Inc. and Cane Island Community Association on Dec. 10.

Carrillo accuses the defendants of failing to secure an umbrella at the Cane Island Community Pool which “violently” blew off its stand, hit her in the head, and knocked her to the ground.

The respondents “failed to provide a safe environment,” according to court filings.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Richard T. Fass of the law firm Perdue & Kidd in Houston.
