HOUSTON – An RV park owner who was sued last month for allegedly shooting a man formally replied to the litigation, recent Harris County District Court records show.

David Matthew Hunter, doing business as Hunter’s RV Park, filed an original answer into Chad Richmond’s lawsuit earlier this month, denying the plaintiff’s allegations against him.

As previously reported in The Southeast Texas Record, Richmond asserts that Hunter shot him unprovoked as he was trying to leave the defendant’s RV Park. The complainant went to the property to seek assistance from one of its residents, his mother’s boyfriend, in response to vehicle.

Hunter’s response, which was submitted on Jan. 4, argues that Richmond contributed to the Feb. 15, 2017 incident in question.

“The defendant asserts that he is immune from any liability for the plaintiff’s injuries because of the plaintiff’s assumption of the risk of injury resulting from his own conduct,” the answer says.

T. Edwin Walker of the law firm Walker & Taylor, PLLC in Houston is representing the respondent.
