HOUSTON – Alleging that she was injured almost two years ago while climbing on the stage of a karaoke bar, Montgomery County resident Georgia Stanley has pursued legal action.

Stanley’s lawsuit, which was filed on Jan. 31 in the Harris County 269th District Court, lays responsibility for the Feb. 18, 2017 incident in question on EJ’s Place, Inc.

The plaintiff explains that the small rectangular step she stepped on to get to the stage “flipped over as she put her weight on it.” According to court papers, the establishment failed to warn patrons of the step’s instability since it “was not attached to anything.”

Stanley reportedly sustained an ankle injury.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by the law firm Armstrong Lee Savage LLP in Houston.
