GALVESTON – Two individuals from Texas and Oklahoma are suing the operators of a Galveston water park over injuries they sustained while using a water slide.

Dean R. Hepler III and Larry Grissom, individually and as attorney in fact for Toni L. Grissom, filed a complaint in the Galveston County District Court against Galveston Waterpark Management Inc.; Galveston Waterpark Inc., doing business as Schlitterbahn Galveston; Galveston Waterpark Holdings LTD and Galpark LLC alleging premises liability.

The suit states the plaintiffs were guests at the defendants' Schlitterbahn water park in Galveston on July 13, 2018. The plaintiffs allege Hepler and Toni L. Grissom went down the Loopy Luge water slide and were seriously injured. Hepler alleges he broke his collarbone in 10 places and Toni L. Grissom suffered a concussion, the suit states.

The plaintiffs allege the defendants breached their duty of care to protect them from danger.

The plaintiffs are seeking trial by jury, interest and relief deemed fit. The plaintiffs are represented by Darrell A. Apffel and D. Blake Apffel of Apffel Legal PLLC in Galveston.
