HOUSTON — A Houston couple is suing a fiberoptic cable installation company, alleging the defendants caused $20,000 in damages and have failed to remedy the wrongdoing.

David Morreale and Anna Morreale filed a complaint July 11 in Harris County District Court against Shaker Assi, M&S Cable Contractors Inc. and ADEX Corporation, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the Morreales reside at 16318 Parksley Drive, Houston. On June 26, 2018, the suit alleges, an individual knocked on the plaintiffs' door and informed them he needed to access their back yard to lay fiberoptic cable. The plaintiffs allowed the access.

The next day, the plaintiffs say, they noticed their floor was squishy and water was coming up from between the wood laminate floorboards. The Morreales say they determined that the crew had broken their sewer line and repairs cost were more than $20,000.

The plaintiffs say they have tried to contact Shaker Assi, but were unable to reach them. In November 2018, the plaintiffs heard from the defendant's insurance provider who stated that the plaintiffs' claim was denied.

The Morreales seek actual damages of less than $100,000, interest, exemplary damages, court costs and all other just relief. They are represented by attorney Samuel W. Veenstra of The Veenstra law Firm PLLC in League City.
