AUSTIN – The owners of Urban Air Adventure Park in Austin have been hit with a personal injury lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages.

Alleging gross negligence, Thien Nguyen filed suit against The Local Guys Cedar Park on July 10 in Travis County.

According to the lawsuit, on May 25 Nguyen was at Urban Air Adventure and ascending the stairs inside the facility when his head came into direct contact with a piece of equipment from the ceiling.

“Defendant failed to ensure the facility was safe for customers and visitors,” the suit states. “The object struck and compressed Plaintiff’s head causing Plaintiff severe injuries. Plaintiff suffered a spinal cord injury and even paralysis.”

Nguyen has been hospitalized since the date of the incident. He had to undergo two extensive surgeries, including surgery on his spine. He is now able to ambulate with assistance but faces a long road to recovery, the suit states.

The suit accuses the defendant of negligently failing to provide a safe facility for visitors.

In addition to punitive damages, Nguyen is suing for his past and future medical expenses, loss of earning capacity, pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, impairment and loss of household services.

He is represented by Andrew Dao, Tony Buzbee and Cornelia Brandfield-Harvey, attorneys for The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
