HOUSTON – Brennans of Houston has been named in a lawsuit alleging a former supervisor grabbed a waiter’s genitals, causing him mental anguish.
Through The Buzbee Law Firm, “John Doe” filed the suit July 29 in Harris County District Court, seeking up to $100,000 in damages.
According to the petition, Doe was a waiter working for Brennans. During his time there, he routinely observed managers and other employees drinking and “becoming drunk” on the job.
Kelly Helms was one of Doe’s supervisor and “frequently” directed him to get drinks for him from the bartender. Sometime in October 2018, Helms became drunk during his shift with alcohol provided to him by Brennans.
“Helms approached the plaintiff and grabbed plaintiff’s genitals,” the suit states. “Plaintiff yelled at Helms asking him what his problem was. With the commotion, other employees came to the area and the incident was over.
“Helms was later fired from Brennans.”
Doe alleges he suffered mental anguish because of the incident. He is also suing for necessary counseling expenses.
He is represented by attorneys Tony Buzbee, Peter Taaffe and Crystal Del Toro.
