SHERMAN -- A Denton County man is suing a personal care business, alleging a Just For Men hair product caused burns and swelling to his head.

Thomas DeLaGarza filed suit July 24 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against  Combe Incorporated and Combe Products Inc., alleging negligence and wrongful conduct in connection with the haircare product line Just For Men.

According to the complaint, DeLaGarza purchased Just For Men in October 2018. He says he applied the dye to his head as directed the instructions. The suit alleges DeLaGarza soon experienced severe reactions to the product, including burns, redness, swelling and skin discoloration. He said he had to be treated at local medical facilities for the severe burns and currently suffers permanent discoloration to body.

The plaintiff alleges the marketing and design of the product does not accurately represent how dangerous it could be to consumers.

DeLaGarza seeks trial by jury, damages for medical bills, economic losses, pain and suffering, attorney fees and all legal and equitable relief. He is represented by attorneys Mikal C. Watts, Francisco Guerra IV and Robert Brezinski of Watts Guerra LLP in San Antonio.
