HOUSTON — A veteran employee is suing his company, alleging he was discriminated against and passed over for a promotion due to age.
James Jaeger filed a complaint Aug. 13 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Beckman Coulter Inc., alleging discrimination and retaliation.
According to the complaint Jaeger had worked for Beckman Coulter for 33 years as an engineer. The suit alleges had had previously been recognized as the highest performing employee in the company but the defendant was determined to terminate his employment after Jaeger applied for a promotion to district manager.
In order to carry out the termination of the plaintiff, the lawsuit states, the defendant tried to create false allegations to ensure that Jaeger would be fired for misconduct. In the end, the defendant ignored the plaintiff's allegations and concerns about discrimination and Jaeger was fired.
Jaeger seeks attorney fees, trial by jury, liquidated and statutory damages, interest, court costs and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Charles A. Sturm of Sturm Law PLLC in Houston.
