HOUSTON — An inspector is suing an energy company, alleging he was injured when he fell down steps due to management's negligence.

Ray Sam filed a complaint Sept. 5 in Harris County District Court against Laborde Marine LLC and Fieldwood Energy LLC, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, Sam was employed as an inspector who was doing radiologic testing of welds offshore on Jan. 9. During the course of his work, the suit states, Sam slipped and fell down three or four steps of stairs on a vessel due to rough seas.

The plaintiff says he sustained severe injuries that made it impossible for him to move the next day due to his pain.

Sam seeks more than $1 million, attorney fees, court costs, interest and all just relief. He is represented by attorneys Marcus R. Spagnoletti and Eric J. Rhine of Spagnoletti Law Firm in Houston.
