GALVESTON — A pharmacist is suing a medical center, alleging his personnel file is being unfairly withheld from him.

Kevin J. Ononugbo of Friendswood filed a complaint Sept. 24 in Galveston County District Court against University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, alleging failure to release a personnel file.

According to the complaint, Ononugbo was employed by the defendant in 1985 as a pharmacist and was promoted after three years. The plaintiff said he worked for UT Medical Branch Galveston for 23 years and always was recognized for his good work.

The suit states Ononugbo was laid off in 2008 but it was not for irresponsibility or poor performance on his part. Additionally, the plaintiff says he has struggled to find employment elsewhere, which he believes is due to the defendant's dissemination of inaccuracies in his personnel file.

Ononugbo seeks attorney fees, court costs, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by attorneys Alfonso Kennard Jr., and Anton J. Steward of Kennard Law PC in Houston.
