Lawsuits

HOUSTON — A Fayette County man alleges an oil company's negligence caused him to slip on oil at a containment tank in Gonzales.

Charles Lighteard filed a complaint Nov. 26 in the Harris County District Court against EOG Resources Inc., alleging negligence/premises liability.

According to the complaint, Lighteard was at a secondary containment tank in Gonzales owned/occupied by EOG on Jan. 28, 2018. The suit alleges Lighteard slipped and fell on oil in the containment tank while putting away a hose. The plaintiff says he sustained injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and loss of earnings.

He alleges EOG allowed the "defective condition"  to exist and failed to inspect the area or remedy the condition.

Lightheard seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by attorney Richard Nava of Bellaire.
