Woman sues apartment complex after falling over potholes in parking lot

HOUSTON — A woman who fell over potholes in her apartment complex parking lot is claiming the negligence of the owners and management company. 

Mariana Hernandez filed a complaint Jan. 3 in the Harris County District Court against Sunrise Partners LLP and Oak Leaf Management Company alleging premises liability and negligence. 

Hernandez leased an apartment from the defendants on March 29, 2017 in East Humble. She alleges that on Jan. 3, 2018 she was holding her infant child and walking through the apartment complex parking lot when she tripped and fell over potholes. Hernandez suffered injuries and claims the defendant's failure to fix the dangerous condition. 

Hernandez seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by M. Obaid Shariff of the Shariff Law Firm in Houston.
