BEAUMONT – A local woman is seeking up to $1 million in damages from Dollar General after slipping in a puddle of laundry detergent nearly two years ago.

Erika Broussard filed her suit against the Dolgencrop of Texas on Jan. 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 27, 2018, Broussard was shopping at a Beaumont Dollar General when she fell in liquid laundry detergent.

“After plaintiff’s fall, she noticed that some of the detergent had been on the floor long enough to be soaked into nearby boxes which were cluttering the floor,” the suit states. “At the time of the incident, there were no signs warning of the unreasonably dangerous condition.”

Broussard is suing for her past and future medical expenses, loss of earnings, impairment, pain, mental anguish and disfigurement.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Kent Walston, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
