HOUSTON — An American Airlines pilot who stored his personal airplane at the George Bush Airport is claiming the facility's development and management company's negligence after the plane was destroyed by a woman who drove her car through the airport's security fence undetected.

Max Altenbaumer filed a complaint Jan. 21 in the Harris County District Court against Has Development Corporation alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, Altenbaumer parked and stored his private Cessna C-182J plane at George Bush Airport that he used to commute between Houston and his hometown in Arkansas. He alleges that on Jan. 23 he was told his plane had been damaged with surveillance video later showing a woman drove her car through the airport fence, onto the runways and crashed into his plane. He claims Has' lack of security and detection.

Altenbaumer seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Alexis Espejel of The Voss Law Firm PC in The Woodlands.
