HOUSTON — A Spring, Texas couple claims a roofing and remodeling contractor took about $60,000 of their Hurricane Harvey flood disaster recovery checks and left unfinished and substandard work.

Dedric and Felicia Brown filed a complaint Jan. 22 in the Harris County District Court against Jesus Martinez doing business as Rainshield Roofing and Remodeling alleging deceptive trade practice, violation of the Texas Property Code, breach of contract and negligence.

The Browns hired Rainshield on Feb. 6, 2018 to repair and remodel their home in Spring that was damaged from Hurricane Harvey flood waters. They allege Rainshield "capitalized" on approximately $60,000 of their insurance disaster recovery checks and left substandard repairs. The Browns claim they were left to living in the upstairs of their home without working showers, bathtubs and other necessities.

The Browns seek monetary relief, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Dedric Brown of The Dedric Brown Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
