HOUSTON — A woman is suing the owners and managers of her Houston apartment complex after she was robbed and shot in the parking lot and suffered injuries.

Beatriz Guzman filed a complaint Jan. 23 in the Harris County District Court against Park Row Apartments LP., and Dayrise Residential LLC., alleging negligence.

Guzman, who was 19 years old at the time, was living with her family at the Brittmore Apartment Homes in Houston. She alleges that on March 26, 2019, she was walking to her car with a friend when four armed males robbed them and shot them. Guzman was shot in the abdomen which caused injuries to her intestines. She claims the defendants failed to take "reasonable" steps to prevent criminal activity at the property.

Guzman seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Marshall May of The Law Office of Marshall May LLC in Dallas.
