Man claims Tacos Del Julio employees' negligence caused fire at catered event

HOUSTON — Tacos Del Julio is facing a negligence suit alleging their employees caused a fire at a catered party due to not properly setting up a grill.

Andres Mesa, MD and Isabel Orihuela filed a complaint Jan, 30 in the Harris County District Court against Tacos Del Julio III Inc., alleging negligence. 

Mesa hired Tacos Del Julio to catered his daughter's high school graduation party on May 24, 2019 where Orihuela was a guest. They allege that the Tacos Del Julio employees did not "properly set up the grill" which caused a fire. Mesa and Orihuela suffered burns from the fire and Mesa's home also was damaged. 

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of over $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Jesus Garcia Jr., Moises Morales, III and Kane Kenney of Kherkher Garcia LLP in Houston.
