Crowley Maritime subsidiary seaman claims negligence after being injured on tug barge

HOUSTON — A seaman employed by a Crowley Maritime subsidiary who was injured on the deck of a tug barge during rough weather is claiming negligence. 

Thomas Caballero filed a complaint Jan. 29 in the Harris County District Court against Intrepid Personnel & Provisioning Inc., and Vessel Management Services Inc., alleging negligence.

Caballero, who works for Intrepid was assigned to the tug barge ATB Pacific Reliance. He alleges that on Dec. 11, 2019 during rough weather and high seas, the vessel's captain ordered him to go out on the deck. Caballero claims he was thrown around and suffered injury to his ankle, knee and back. He also claims the vessel was unseaworthy and not "fit for its intended use."

Caballero seeks monetary relief in excess of $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Anthony Buzbee of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
