HOUSTON — A man who suffered heart damage during bypass surgery and required a heart transplant is claiming the negligence of his surgeon and Baylor College of Medicine.

Kenneth and Terrie Griffith filed a complaint https://jnswire.s3.amazonaws.com/jns-media/94/3c/11380177/89161478.PDF Jan. 29 in the Harris County District Court against George V. Letsou, M.D., and Baylor College of Medicine alleging negligence.

Kenneth Griffin underwent an "off pump" coronary bypass on Jan. 28, 2019 at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center-CHI St. Luke's Health performed by Letsou. He alleges that due to Letsou's negligence, he suffered "decreased perfusion" to his heart and suffered postoperative cardiogenic shock, sepsis and multiogran failure. He claims the damage to his heart caused his need for an emergency heart transplant.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Linda Laurent Thomas, Michelle Wan of Thomas & Wan LLP in Houston.
