HOUSTON — A woman who fell at the Memorial Herman Southwest building on a raised piece of material between the carpet and stone floor is claiming the building managers negligence.

Janice Hertz filed a complaint Jan. 30 in the Harris County District Court against CBRE Inc., alleging negligence and premises liability.

Hertz worked in the Memorial Herman Southwest building in Houston. She alleges that on April 12, 2018 while exiting the building, she tripped over a "raised and loose transition strip" where the carpet and stone walkway come together. Hertz ruptured her hamstring and suffered injuries to her hip, leg and tail bone. She claims that prior to her fall, CBRE, who manages the building tried to tape the strip down.

Hertz seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Scott Callahan and Darren Poutra of The Law Office of Scott P. Callahan PC in Katy.
