Woman sues Mi Tienda claiming negligence after falling at Houston store

HOUSTON — Mi Tienda is facing a negligence suit after a woman alleges she slipped and suffered injuries at one of its stores in Houston. 

Delfina Muniz filed a complaint Jan, 28 in the Harris County District Court against H-E-B LP doing business as Mi Tienda alleging negligence. 

Muniz was at a Mi Tienda store on Little York Road in Houston on Nov. 9, 2019. She alleges that while walking down an isle pushing a shopping cart, she slipped on "an unknown liquid." Muniz claims she suffered a laceration on her leg, swelling in her legs and side of her check and injury to one of her fingers. She was treated at the hospital and underwent physical therapy as well as steroid injections. 

Muniz seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by D. Patrick Smitherman of D. Patrick Smitherman Law PLLC in Houston.
