Former Best Buy employee claims negligence after cargo boxes fall on him, causing injuries

HOUSTON — Best Buy is facing a suit from a former employee who was injured when heavy electronic cargo fell on him while unloading a shipment from the warehouse. 

Kolbie Burks filed a complaint Jan. 28 in the Harris County District Court against Best Buy Co., Inc., alleging negligence.

Burks was working for Best Buy and claims while helping to unload cargo that included heavy electronics from the Best Buy warehouse on Nov. 6, 2019, the cargo fell on him. He alleges he suffered severe neck, back and other injuries. Burks claims Best Buy failed to provide a safe work place. 

Burks seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Kurt Arnold, J. Kyle Findley, Adam Lewis, and Kala Sellers of Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
