Woman claims company denied her right to dispute debt, coerced payment she did not owe

Lawsuits

TYLER — A Texas woman is claiming a Virginia-based debt collection company denied her right to dispute her debt and pressured her into making a payment she did not owe.

Mary Mussel White filed a complaint Feb. 6 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Webcollex LLC doing business as CKS Financial alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

White alleges in her complaint that on Feb. 13, 2019, she had a phone conversation with the Webcollex regarding her alleged debt to the LendingClub. She claims despite telling Webcollex that she wanted to dispute the debt, they offered her a settlement and coerced her into  making a payment on a debt she feels she did not owe.

White seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Samantha Orlowski and Joel Halvorsen of Halvorsen Klote in St. Louis, Missouri.

Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas case number 6:20-CV-00055-JCB
