HOUSTON — A foreign couple claim a Houston man fraudulently induced them into a loan agreement that resulted in him transferring the title of their property into his name.

Teodoro Zuniga and Belkis Portillo filed a complaint Feb. 14 in the Harris County District Court against Larry Gonzalez alleging common law fraud, fraudulent inducement, fraud, breach of contract and negligent misrepresentation.

The plaintiffs purchased a Houston property in 2003 from a seller through an owner-financing agreement. They allege that Gonzalez offered to get a loan to pay off the original seller of their property and avoid a foreclosure. The plaintiffs, who are not native English speakers, claim they did not fully understand the documents Gonzalez had them sign and that he misrepresented his intentions and transferred the property title into his name.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. They are represented by Nicholas Martinez and Craig Welscher of The Welscher Martinez Law Firm in Houston.
