DALLAS — A Texas woman is claiming a debt collection agency divulged confidential information to the person who answered her cell phone and falsely threatened to garnish her wages over her alleged student loan debt.
Kendra Bruce filed a complaint Feb. 20 in the Dallas Division of the Northern District of Texas against Pioneer Credit Recovery Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Texas Debt Collection Act.
Bruce alleges in her complaint that on Feb. 17, 2020 she received a call on her cell phone from Pioneer regarding a purported student loan debt. She claims a friend answered the call and when the friend asked who was calling, the Pioneer representative divulged her alleged debt and told the friend Bruce's wages would be garnished if she did not pay the debt. Bruce claims Pioneer failed to ensure they were speaking to the appropriate party regarding her debt and deceptively threatened the garnishment of her wages.
Bruce seeks monetary and all other appropriate relief. She is represented by Nathan Volheim, Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis and Eric Coleman of Sulaiman Law Group in Lombard, Illinois.
