HOUSTON — A woman is alleging a debt collection agency failed to report her alleged $72 debt as disputed to be reflected on her credit report.

Kerlisa Parker filed a complaint Feb. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas Houston Division against Smith Rouchon & Associates Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Parker allegedly owes a $72.00 debt to Lakeland Radiologist PA which the plaintiffs have attempting to collect. She claims on Sept. 29, 2019, the alleged debt showed up on her Equifax credit report and that on Oct. 15, 2019, she sent a letter to Smith Rouchon disputing the debt. Parker alleges the debt still showed up on her credit report in December of 2019 and that Smith Rouchon failed to flag the account to show it was a disputed debt.

Parker seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Attorney Chad Hammond in Houston.
