GALVESTON — A woman is suing the homeowner she helped with maintenance work after she fell off a ladder which was allegedly placed near an oil-slick surface.

Elodie Auzenne-Evans filed a complaint  March 2 in the Galveston County District Court against Judy Loud alleging negligence.

The plaintiff was at Loud's residence in La Marque to perform some home maintenance work. She alleges that while on top of an A-frame ladder to fasten an A/C unit, she slipped on spilled cooking oil which Loud had failed to properly clean up. The plaintiff claims the oil caused the ladder to lose its footing resulting in her fall and causing her to suffer a broken wrist.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Benjamin Roberts of Benjamin Roberts Law PLLC in Houston.
