HOUSTON — A maintenance worker aboard a Houston vessel is claiming he was injured and failed to receive prompt treatment.

Andrew Bennett filed a complaint March 2 in the Harris County District Court against USS Chartering LLC., US Shipping Corp., Houston LLC and USS Vessel Management LLC., alleging violation of the Jones Act.

On Feb. 10, 2020, Bennett was working on the Houston, a vessel owned and crewed by US Shipping and Houston LLC and managed by USS Vessel. He alleges his feet began to hurt and his veins became swollen with the ship's medic stating he needed to see a doctor for evaluation. Bennett claims he was required to work until Feb. 16, 2020, when the vessel was back in port and that he received no proper treatment.  He alleges his injuries were the result of rigorous maintenance work that entailed long and unsafe hours.

Bennett seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Marcus Spagnoletti and Eric Rhine of Teh Spagnoletti Law Firm in Houston.
