HOUSTON — A Houston dentist claims the more than $116,000 worth of dental equipment she purchased from dental supply manufacturers and distributors did not function as marketed.
Adelina Monty, DDS, filed a complaint March 3 in the Harris County District Court against Patterson Dental Supply Inc., Patterson Companies, Inc., Dentsply Sirona Inc. and Scott Coleman, DDS, alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, breach of contract, breach of implied warranty of merchantability and fraud.
Monty entered into an agreement with Patterson on July 13 and July 14, 2016, to purchase CEREC dental equipment to make temporary crowns for her patients. She alleges the equipment has defects such as slow running speed, causing molar crowns to break during milling and after being put in patients' mouths. Monty claims the defendants' technicians failed to fix the problems.
Monty seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. She is represented by Ruth Willars and Nallely Rodriguez of Monty & Ramirez LLP in Houston.
