HOUSTON — A woman is claiming that she was fired from Southwest Key Programs due to her disability and accommodation request.

Ingrid Martinez Rivera filed a complaint March 16 in the Harris County District Court against Southwest Key Programs Inc., alleging disability discrimination.

Rivera began working for Southwest as a clinician on July 16, 2018 and provided mental health assessments and counseling to migrant children. She alleges that Southwest was aware of her disability, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which affects her muscles and walking, when she was hired. Rivera claims she was fired on May 3, 2019 after her doctor completed a disability accommodation form.

Rivera seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Todd Slobin, Dorian Vanderberg-Rodes of Shellist Lazarz Slobin LLP in Houston.
