HOUSTON — Quanta Services is facing a suit by a former employee claiming she was fired for taking leave to care for her husband who was undergoing cancer treatment.

Annette Poorboy filed a complaint March 18 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Quanta Services Inc., alleging interference with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Poorboy worked in Quanta's accounts payable group. She alleges that when her husband was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on one of his kidneys in September of 2019, she faced pressure from Quanta to return to work as soon as possible. She also cliams she was told her FMLA absences were a "burden" and was fired on September 30, 2019, after returning from leave.

Poorboy seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Clayton Craighead with The Craighead Law Firm PLLC in Houston.
