HOUSTON — A man who was doing roofing work for Vega Steel Construction is seeking more than $1 million after falling 22 feet to the ground and suffering injuries.

Javier Espino filed a complaint April 2 in the Harris County District Court against Vega Steel Construction LLC, Dicass Construction Inc., and Menger Valve LLC alleging negligence.

Espino was doing roofing work for Vega Steel at a job site in Houston on Sept. 6, 2019. He alleges that the ladders the workers were supplied were not long enough to reach the roof so Dicass employees suggested they use a forklift to be lifted up to the roof. Espino suffered bodily injuries after falling 22 feet off one of the forklifts and hitting the ground.

Espino seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Carols Leon, Piero Garcia and Sofia Straus of The Leon Law Firm PC in Sugar Land.
