SHERMAN — A Texas-based debt reduction company is facing a suit by a former call center worker claiming she was fired after undergoing surgery and not allowed time off to recover.

Kim Temple filed a complaint April 13 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against Nationwide Debt Reduction Services LLC alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Temple worked at Nationwide Debt Reduction's call center as a debt negotiator from Aug. 14, 2018 through Dec. 20, 2018. She alleges that after undergoing surgery for a lipoma growth on her back in December of 2018, she was terminated immediately after giving her employer a doctor's note stating she could not return to work until the beginning of January of 2019.

Temple seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other proper relief. She is represented by Matthew Scott and Javier Perez of Scott/Perez LLP in Dallas.
