HOUSTON — A Texas man is alleging he received harassing phone calls from a Florida-based collection agency regarding his rent debt.

Christopher Bergeron filed a complaint April 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Hunter Warfield Inc., alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, Texas Debt collection Act and other claims.

Bergeron incurred a debt over his rent after suffering work-related injury. He alleges that in August of 2019, he began to receive automated calls on his cell phone from Hunter Warfield. Bergeron claims he informed them that the outstanding balance was incorrect and asked them to stop calling, however he continues to receive harassing phone calls from Hunter Warfield.

Bergeron seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Alexander Taylor, Marwan Daher and Omar Sulaiman of The Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
