HOUSTON — A former Shell Oil employee, who had a relationship with a male supervisory coworker, claims she was discriminated against, harassed and terminated over their relationship due to her gender.

Amanda Ihlenfield filed a complaint May 13 in Harris County District Court against Shell Oil Company and G4S Secure Solutions, alleging violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Texas Labor Code.

Ihlenfield began working for Shell Oil on May 2, 2016, at its Deer Park manufacturing facility. She alleges that after engaging in a sexual relationship in February 2019 with one of her coworkers who was in a supervisory position, he began to brag about "conquering" her to their coworkers in the office. Ihlenfield also claims she was written up for the relationship, faced hostility from coworkers and was terminated, even though management had prior knowledge of the relationship. She received a Right To Sue from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in February 2020.

Ihlenfield seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented Chris Carmona of The Carmona Firm PLLC in Houston.
