HOUSTON – An area resident knew about her dog’s vicious propensities but negligently failed to make sure her fence could confine the dangerous canine, a recently filed lawsuit alleges.
Heidi Abrahim filed suit against Janice Crowder and Double Z Development (Camp Bow Wow) on May 19 in Harris County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, Abrahim owns two small dogs. Her neighbor, Crowder, owns a large German Shepherd that has previously attacked her smaller dogs, as well as other individuals.
On April 2, a Double Z employee was dog sitting at the Crowder residence and allowed the German Shepherd to run free in the backward while Abrahim’s two smaller dogs were tied up in her yard.
“Ms. Abrahim heard a lot of barking and heard her dogs crying in her backyard and she ran outside to find the Crowder dog in her backyard acting aggressively towards the Abrahim dogs,” the suit states. “It became clear that the Crowder dog had escaped its yard through a hole in the fence that … Crowder had previously attempted to repair in a very shoddy manner.”
While attempting to untie her dogs and get them out of harm’s way, the Crowder dog bit Abrahim on her leg, causing her to suffer multiple puncture wounds before she could fight the dog off.
Abrahim expects to have permanent damages from the scarring and mental anguish she suffered.
She is represented by Friendswood attorney David Thornton.
