HOUSTON – Last month, Lucas Harrison went off to a special needs camp but did not return. A lawsuit seeking more than $1 million in damages has since been filed.

On Aug. 14, David Harrison, representing the estate of Lucas, filed suit against Camp Journey in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on July 23 Lucas went to camp. On that day, he and other special needs campers were swimming at a pool. A lifeguard was in the vicinity but did not see Lucas was beginning to drown and did not attempt to rescue him.

“Instead, Defendants’ lifeguard discovered Lucas only after he had sunk to the bottom of the pool,” the suit states. “Lucas died as a result of his injuries.”

The plaintiff is suing for wrongful death damages.

He is represented by Houston attorney Randall Sorrels of Abraham Watkins.
