HOUSTON — A Harris County couple is claiming false and disparaging statements were made about their marriage on Facebook and in an online publication.

Charlotte Lampe and David Lampe filed a complaint Aug. 17 in Harris County District Court against Robert Jeter III alleging defamation.

The Lampes allege in their complaint that Jeter has a "personal vendetta" against them that began in 2018, which escalated to the point that they required personal bodyguards. The Lampes claim Jeter's "unlawful" and "vicious" behavior includes accusing David Lampe of firing one of his employees for rejecting his sexual advances and stating "Charlotte is not woman enough to satisfy her man."

According to their suit, the Lampes also allege Jeter falsely accused David Lampe of threatening "elected precinct chairs" with gun violence. The Lampes allege that Jeter's statements, which were posted on Facebook and also published in an online publication called "Living Blue in Texas," are libel and falsely accused David Lampe of sexual misconduct and criminal activity. The plaintiffs claim they have suffered invasion of privacy as well as defamation that has exposed them to "public hatred, contempt, ridicule and financial injury."

The Lampes seek monetary relief of $100,000 or less, retraction of the alleged defamatory statements, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Terry Yates of Terry Yates & Associates in Houston.
