HOUSTON – A soon to be former Texas railroad commissioner has a few questions for a blogger he believes was fed false information by his political enemies.

Ryan Sitton, who lost in the March Republican primary, filed a petition on Aug. 26 seeking to depose Joshua Pierce.

Sitton contends Pierce authored “inflammatory statements” about him back in February, posting two articles he acknowledged a month later were without foundation.

Sitton seeks to depose Pierce to find the source behind the information, believing that it’s likely his “political enemies” might be the culprit and may have even paid Pierce to publish the story to damage him politically.

“Petitioner (Sitton) vehemently denies the statements made in Mr. Pierces two stories,” the petition states. “By ordering the deposition, the Court will afford Petitioner the opportunity to investigate the basis and foundation of the two publications prior to the filing of a lawsuit.”

Houston attorney Tony Buzbee represents Sitton.

Filed in Harris County District Court, case No. 2020-51406
