GALVESTON — A woman is alleging an improperly installed and deteriorated metal door at a League City boat storage that struck her to the ground caused her to suffer multiple injuries and infections.

Terri Wernli filed a complaint Sept 30 in Galveston County District Court against Lipworth Revocable Trust and 2006 Boatown Storage Inc., alleging liability and negligence.

According to Wernli's suit, she was at Boatown Storage in League City on May 12, 2020 which is owned an operated by the defendants. She alleges that while her husband was backing an RV out of the storage "stall,"  a gust of wind caused a "rusted" and "deteriorated" metal door to "violently" strike her and knocking her "face down" to the ground.

She claims she suffered a gash and fracture to her elbow and arm as well as a gash and injury to her right leg that caused her to be transported by ambulance to HCAH Lake Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

She also claims she suffered from "multiple" infections and required three additional surgeries due to the gash in her leg and her "persistent" and "excruciating" pain in her back, neck, arm and leg. Wernli alleges that the metal door had been "improperly designed or maintained" and the defendants failed to keep their premises "in a reasonably safe condition."

Wernli seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by P. Andrew McStay of Porto, Trueheart & McStay LLC in Houston.
