HOUSTON – A local woman who tripped in her own apartment, twice, is blaming the owners of the complex for her injuries.

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Fatme Elissa filed suit against Tanglewood Voss Properties and Texas SFI Partnerships on Oct. 13 in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on May 19 Elissa was a tenant at Tanglewood at Voss Apartments when she fell in her kitchen.

“Specifically, the apartment’s floor was missing a border between the kitchen and the other room, which caused plaintiff to fall and break her elbow,” the suit states.

Elissa fell again on Aug. 8 and broke her arm.

She alleges the apartment was “negligently designed” and that the defendants failed to warn her of the dangerous condition.

Elissa is suing for her past and future medical expenses, lost wages, pain, mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement.

Bellaire attorney Paul Higdon represents her.
