HOUSTON — A man is claiming he suffered injuries when the chair he was sitting in at a Houston eye care facility suddenly collapsed.
Richard Bedgood filed a complaint Jan. 18 in Harris County District Court against Alpha Eyecare Associates PLLC alleging premises liability and negligence.
According to his complaint, Bedgood was at Alpha Eyecare Associates on South Post Oak in Houston on Aug. 4, 2020. He alleges that when he sat in a chair at the facility, it "immediately collapsed" and caused him to suffer "severe" injuries to his neck, back, shoulder, arm and other parts of his body.
Bedgood claims there were no warning signs to alert him or others of the defective chair and that Alpha Eyecare failed to keep its premises in a safe condition. He further claims Alpha Eyecare's negligence for failing to inspect its premises or take any measures to safeguard the area. Bedgood also claims he suffered lost wages and incurred medical treatment expenses as a result of the alleged accident.
Bedgood seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by Lauren Roberts of The Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
