HOUSTON – A recently filed lawsuit alleges tires from a Mack cement truck broke free and crossed several lanes of traffic, and even skipped over a highway median, before crushing part of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

Seeking $2.5 million in damages, Vicheth Srou filed suit against Apple Towing, Eric Ruiz and Alexis Reyes in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 1 Ruiz was towing Reyes’ large Mack cement truck. As Ruiz was traveling southbound on SH-228, the left set of tandem wheels entirely separated from the cement truck.

“They bounced across numerous lanes, and across the median of SH-288, before colliding with, and crushing part of (Srou’s) vehicle, which was traveling northbound on SH-288,” the suit states.

Srou was transported to the hospital for his severe injuries.

The suit is alleging gross negligence and seeks damages for Srou’s pain, mental anguish, impairment, medical expenses, loss of earning capacity and loss of household services.

Srou is represented by Daly & Black attorneys Andrew Dao, John Black and Kyle Malone.
