HOUSTON — A woman who slipped at a Houston grocery store and suffered injuries is claiming negligence.

Maria Robles filed a complaint May 12 in Harris County District Court against H-E-B LP doing business as Joe V's Smart Shop and HEB Grocery Company LP doing business as Joe V's Smart Shop and H-E-B LP frequently known as HEB Grocery Company LP individually and doing business as Joe V's Smart Shop District alleging negligence.

Robles alleges in her suit that while at the defendants' business on Northwest Freeway in Houston on May 27, 2019, she slipped and fell on grapes that were on the floor near the cashier stations and suffered injuries. She claims the defendants were negligent for failing to keep their store in a "reasonably safe condition" and failed to "properly warn the public."

Robles further claims the defendants failed to properly inspect their premises or train their employees on how to make the premises safe. She alleges she incurred medical treatment expenses and suffered disability and impairment as a result of her injuries.

Robles seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Richard Paxton of The Paxton Law Firm in Houston.
